Maine Vintage Race Car Association announces Class of 2026

Six new inductees were announced at the MVRCA annual meeting Sunday, November 9th.

The formal induction ceremony will be held Saturday, October 24th at the Augusta Civic Center.

DON BOWIE SR
Don was a longtime racer at Oxford Plains Speedway. His career spanned from the 60’s through the 80’s where he raced Figure 8 and Charger divisions, earning multiple wins and a 1971 Figure 8 championship. Aside from his own racing career, he’s been a crew member on the ACT tour and has crewchiefed his family owned cars. Even now at the age of 87, he continues to work on the car of his grandson Zach Bowie.

GLENN CAMPBELL
Glenn was an owner, driver, driver and engine builder in the wild sport of Hydroplane boat racing. He raced both class D and class C from 1960 to 1972, traveling from his potatoe farm in Fort Fairfield, Maine to 24 different venues throughout Maine, New England and the Canadien Maritimes. He competed in over 500 heat and feature races, garnering 175 podium finishes. Cambell was a pioneer and inovator in Hydroplane racing, inspiring many others to get on the water to race.

JAY CUSHMAN
Jay Cushman’s racing career began at 17 years of age back in 1979. However his career as a driver was a reletively short one. His true calling came when he began buying and selling racing parts, and then building and owning race cars. As a car owner, he’s participated in many series including go-karts, Legend Cars, Allison Legacy, PASS Modifieds, and PASS Super Late Models. Over many years building and fabricating his own cars, he has field rides for drivers including Scott Chubbuck, Dave Dion, Larry Gelinas, Ted Christopher, and Kyle Busch… and lately his own son Austin Teras, who won the 2025 Oxford 250.

PETE RONDEAU
Pete Rondeau has an extensive history in racing, achieving success in all areas of the sport. He’s been a driver, fabricator, crew chief, team manager, and has even been part of racing research & development. Highlights of his career include racing from regional Limited Sportsman and Late Models, to the NASCAR Cup Series. His accomplishments in Maine racing include many wins and championships and now is greatly respected in the NASCAR world due to his hard work and integrity.

DUANE SEEKINS
Duanew Seekins’ racing career began in 1976. He ended up racing and winning in six different decades at tracks including Speedway 95, Unity Spud Speedway, Wiscasset, Oxford and Beech Ridge. Over that time, he amassed over 100 career wins and 8 championships (7 in Prostock, 1 in Super Street) He was known for building all his own cars and race engines, and was also a winning chassis builder for other local racers.

JAMIE WILLIAMS
Growing up in the shadow of Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Jamie Williams started his career as a crew member and driver, but soon found his place in the racing business was behind a camera. He had a natural ability to capture some of the most incredible action shots, and his talents soon took him far beyond southern Maine, up and down the east coast, working for many racing magazines: most notably Speedway Illustrated, where his work was featured on the cover numerous times. With the upstart boom of online information, he joined a fledgling group that helped start Speed51.com – what is now known as Racing America. Through his outstanding work, he established himself as the standard of what motorsports photographers in the short track world would strive to be.
