UNITY RACEWAY'S 76th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION & HALL OF FAME

Twisted Thoughts w/ Mike Twist
Another Season, Another Mike Rowe Victory
Could there be a more appropriate way to start a racing season at Oxford Plains Speedway
than to have Maine Racing Hall of Famer Mike Rowe win another race?
Opening night, which took place on a Tuesday due to multiple rainouts, saw Rowe’s familiar #24
go to victory lane in the Super Late Model division. It was Rowe’s 154 th career victory at Oxford.
Rowe, 74, kept a pair of the track’s most talented youngsters at bay to score the victory. Austin
Teras finished second and Evan Roy completed the podium. Ironically, Roy’s family owns Roy’s
All Steak Hamburgers, which has been one of Rowe’s most loyal sponsors in the past few
decades….

FROM PAIGE WOODS OF “MAINE’S LOST SPEEDWAYS”
Beech Ridge Speedway. JB McConnell on his grader with the oiler and roller behind him. In addition to my post yesterday, I mentioned the clay would ripple when it was a hot sunny day.. this is the piece of equipment that was used to fix that! When Steve Pellerin and I were discussing this photo, he pointed out you can see the holes on the track. Although this isn’t the usual “action shot” photo.. this is an important part of racing that JB McConnell did for many years. He prepped the track for cars to race around. Many thanks to JB McConnell for his tireless contributions not only to Beech Ridge, but many other tracks he had his hand in as well, at one time or another. Photo from Steve Pellerin collection

Welcome
In order for MVRCA to succeed, we need new people – not just as members, but people to get involved and help. The expression “many hands make light work” holds true in this case as well. Even if you’re only able to help for just one event or appearance, we encourage you to take the leap and contact us. We’re looking for Class A truck drivers, electricians, and carpenters to help with our mobile museum. We’re looking for people to help catalog and categorize thousands of photos and artifacts. And, we are looking for people to help us at the increasing number of public appearances to greet fans and set up displays. My philosophy has always been to find good people and then find a place where they fit best. Whether you were involved in motorsports, are currently involved in motorsports, or have loved motorsports from the stands, there is a place for you in MVRCA. I encourage you to contact me today at kmwiscassetspeedway.com and find out how and where to get involved. Thank you all, and I look forward to getting to work!
